Christmas Season, Lviv 2013

The Spirit of Christmas is coming to Lviv, bringing lots of fun and anticipation of the upcoming festive season – now it’s time to take a break and enjoy your days filled with shopping, dining and socialising. All Leopolitans cherish old traditions and are always eager to take part in Ukrainian Christmas games and other forms of entertainment. This Christmas season offers Leopolitans and guests of the city many interesting events like the traditional festival “The blaze of Christmas star” which re-invigorates an ancient tradition: Ukrainians used to make big (1,5 - 2 meters) Christmas stars, the main symbol of all festivities. The festival took place on January 7th at the Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life (1 Chernecha Hora St.) and on January 8th in the city center (Rynok square, Prospect Svobody, St. George Square). 

Вже як заведено віками, взимку Різдво приходить до Львова і приносить багато радості й нових надій, веселощів, зустрічей з рідними й близькими - час відпочити, відвідати нові крамниці й крамнички, посидіти, поспілкуватись з друзями в кав’ярні або затишному ресторані. Фестиваль пройде 7 січня в Музеї народної архітектури та побуту (вул. Чернеча Гора, 1) і 8 січня в центрі міста (площа Ринок, проспект Свободи, біля церкви св. Юрія).

Another traditional Christmas event is “A Great Carol” festival which will take place during January at the St. Eucharist Church, (3 Museina Sq.) and will be dedicated to the presentation of old Ukrainian customs, songs and carols in particular. / Ще однією традиційною подією свят у січні є фестиваль колядок «Велика Коляда», який пройде в Домініканському соборі (пл. Музейна, 3) і буде присвячений, зокрема, показу давніх українських звичаїв, пісень та колядок.
